Why do we sing? Every Sunday, millions of Christians gather in thousands of churches across our globe, open their mouths, and sing words from memory, from a book, from a sheet, or from a screen. Is our time of singing simply an extension of our personal devotion… just a group of individual Christians who happen to be in the same room as they offer their individual praise to their personal Lord and Savior?
Or is more than that? Is there something to be said about the communal aspect of lifting our voices together as the church? Scripture has a lot to say about singing. When we sing together in a church gathering, it’s not for an audience of one… it’s for all of us. So church, let’s spend our Sunday mornings singing loud the greatness of God, knowing that when we do, God is glorified, and His church is reminded of why He’s worthy of that glory.
